Hong Kong - Culture Smart! — Danish Prakash

Hong Kong - Culture Smart!

A short history of Hong Kong and a mini ethnography of the people of Hong Kong. This book was quite fun in the first half, but as is usual with the second half of books that are part of the Culture Smart! series, the second half was bland and repetitive. Especially if you’ve read a book from this series on an Asian country, you will repeatedly come across concepts such as “saving face” or “business etiquette”. I generally look forward to reading the first half explaining the history of the land and its peoples, and then nuances about its culture and food. This book was no different; it does the job.

That’s not to deter you from reading this book; if you find yourself interested in a quick history about Hong Kong for whatever reason, this is a good entry-level read.
